Hillier Bereavement Care

We are very proud to have this unique facility which offers support to the bereaved. It is an extension of the services provided by Hillier Funeral Service as part of the care offered and is free of charge.

 We aim to care for both the newly bereaved and those at different stages of the grieving process. We offer one to one support; we also provide a range of groups and activities, which bring people together for peer support and for some, a social life in a safe and protective way. The Service includes:-

• One to one Support with a trained Counsellor.
  
  
• Continuing Support if appropriate with a Hillier Bereavement Care befriender.
  
  
• Telephone Support
  
  
• Groups – which provide support by bringing bereaved people together.
  Our Range of groups include:
  Chat and Lunch – a large social group which meets fortnightly, providing a full social programme throughout the year. We are sometimes able to extend this facility to people who have not used Hillier Funeral Service.
  Parent’s Together – a group especially offering support for the special difficulties that the loss of a child brings.

• Hillier Bereavement Care Annual Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance. A yearly opportunity (in October), for anyone bereaved to join in a beautiful service of celebration of remembrance. This is followed by afternoon tea.
• Remembering at Christmas – A Christmas tree dedication service (held at the Chat and lunch group). The Christmas trees are then available for families to leave their tributes throughout December at the Victoria Rd office and at The Hillier Chapel of Rest in the Broadway.
