I had the please of being taught woodwork by Mr Creed at Deanery School around 1965-1970 and have always remembered him as a truly inspirational man and when people ask if you ever had a teacher who made a difference to your life then he was that man.

My condolences go out to all his family and friends.

Remembering all the good times we shared since 1957! We loved our evenings playing cards with you, Auntie Elaine, Dad and Doreen and reminiscing. It’s a small world – we found out that you taught Steve’s brother too! I will treasure my memories of a lovely uncle.
One more angel in heaven, one more star in the sky.

So many memories growing up with Mum, Dad and my 3 sisters. From staying up late together to watch the Masters to all of the card games played together. Always had such a great sense of humour. He’s with Nana now and at peace. Love you Gramps xxx

My thoughts and condolences are sent to the friends and family of a much loved teacher.

So many of us remember Mr Creed with such deep affection. We often share fond memories of our time at the school on the school’s Facebook page and Mr Creed’s name pops up time and time again with humorous but often touching stories about how he helped or looked after pupils and fledgling teachers.

I was a prefect during my time at Deanery (between c1973-78) and caused Mr Creed to shake his head disbelievingly a few times.

It was an honour to have known him.

    Rest now, Sir x

I have very fond memories of Uncle Ivan during my childhood, always laughing and being such a loving husband to my Auntie Elaine.
May they both be at peace together.

Thank you for the weekly dinners whilst I was at Southampton university. I loved watching The Weakest Link and having steak for tea! Didn’t love the whole cooked onion you made me have!!! I’ll miss your laugh the most. I’m happy you’re now at peace with Nana xxxx

I always loved going to stay with my nana & gramps in the summer school holidays, I absolutely loved their house and all the memories I have are so special. From running around in gramps’ lovely kept garden playing the peg game, to going on day trips out to the cinema or play parks! Gramps always had those powdery sweets kept in his red soft top and he always made the best peppery mash potato for dinner! He was the sweetest gramps, had a great sense of humour and an iconic laugh. I loved when he came to live with us and I’d make him a cup of tea every time I got back from college and we’d sit and have dinner and he’d talk about his younger years. I know you’re in a better place now gramps. Love you always x

It was a great honour and pleasure to work with Ivan for the 8 years we shared leading the Deanery School.

My dearest Gramps, I will always remember your home with Nana so fondly and all the happy memories our family shared there. The peg game in the garden, the day trips, Sunday roasts, your laugh, that tiny TV in the kitchen, the bath toys, the breakfasts that had more sugar than Weetabix (yum!) and the marmite sandwiches for lunch that came with half a cucumber on the side!! Thank you for being the kindest and sweetest Gramps. I love you and miss you, Nana and Gramps (or Grapes, as I once spelt in your birthday card, you laughed a lot at that) Xxxxxx
