At Hillier’s every funeral we arrange is unique and personal to the person that has died and their family. However to make our services and prices as easy to understand as possible, we have created three packages, which offer varying levels of personalisation options and choices so you can choose an options that best suits your needs and budget.
Our Personal Funeral offers you our widest range of options and choices, allowing you to create a truly unique send off. Our Simple Funeral provides a more basic funeral at a lower cost. And we also offer a Unattended Direct Cremation, which is a cremation without a service or mourner present.
And exclusively to Hillier’s, we are able to offer you a Private Service at Kingshill House, in our beautiful, purpose built service room as an alternative to a service at a crematorium or in a church.

For a truly personalised funeral, the Personal Funeral package offers the greatest range of options and choices allowing you to create a truly unique send-off.
Choose the venue/s and pick a day and time for the service that suits you. Select a coffin, funeral cars and the processional route. Then personalise the service with your choice of flowers, music, readings, service sheet, photo montages and webcasting.

Our Simple Funeral package provides a traditional cremation or burial funeral service at a lower cost compared to the Personal Funeral.
Some options and choices are limited, such as the day and time of the service, the coffin and funeral cars. The service can still be personalised with your choice of flowers, music, readings, service sheets and webcasting.

An Unattended Cremation provides a cremation without a service or mourners present at the committal. As family do not attend, we ensure your loved one is given a dignified and respectful send-off.
After the cremation, you may wish to arrange a service or gathering at a time and a place that is truly personal to you and your loved one, and could include the scattering or interment of the ashes.

At Hillier's we are able to offer a funeral service in our beautiful service room at Kingshill House. You can create a unique and personal send-off in our private service room prior to a cremation or burial.
We also have a wake room which gives you the option to hold the entire gathering at Kingshill House without the need to visit the crematorium or travel between venues for the wake.

This transparency ensures you can make informed choices that beautifully honour your loved one while remaining mindful of your financial considerations.
Understanding funeral costs: a detailed breakdown of expenses
To provide clarity on funeral costs, it’s helpful to understand the different categories of expenses involved. At Hillier Funeral Service, we break these down into three main types:
1. Our professional funeral director fees. These are the fees charged by Hillier Funeral Service for our expertise and services in arranging and conducting the funeral. This includes:
- Funeral arrangement service, including liaising with third parties
- Professional guidance, empathetic support, and clear advice throughout the entire process.
- Handling of all essential legal documentation and administrative tasks.
- The dignified care of your loved one at our funeral home, including preparation for the funeral and facilitating viewing if desired.
- Safe and respectful transportation of your loved one, including bringing them into our care and providing a hearse on the day of the funeral.
- Our dedicated funeral director and professional pallbearers to attend and conduct the funeral service.
2. Essential third party costs. These are vital costs that Hillier Funeral Service pays on your behalf to external providers. These unavoidable funeral expenses include:
- Cremation fees charged by the crematorium.
- Burial fees which include the cost of purchasing a burial plot (new or reopening), interment fees (the cost to dig and prepare the grave), and potentially memorialisation fees
- Minister or celebrant fees to lead the funeral service.
3. Optional items to personalise the funeral: The total cost can vary significantly based on the choices you make to personalise the funeral. These optional funeral expenses might include:
- Personalising the funeral with a more elaborate or uniquely designed coffin, an alternative or specialised hearse, limousines to transport family and mourners, floral tributes, professionally printed orders of service and other funeral stationery, the inclusion of musicians or singers, a symbolic dove release, and more.
- Arranging a suitable venue and catering services for a post-funeral wake or reception.
- Choosing meaningful memorialisation options such as an urn for ashes, a lasting memorial plaque, a traditional headstone, or personal keepsake jewellery and other memorial items.
