Dearest Carole, I owe you so much! Thank you for introducing me to rowing. The sport has totally shaped my life – taken me to fantastic places, introduced me to amazing people and kept me healthy! I still make your blister gloves for my charges! At our last club dinner, you made it into my speech (I’m captain of my club) – I was talking about why I started rowing – that you didn’t want to go to rowing circuits at Uni on your own so I went with you … and at the end of the session put my name down on the list to go down to the river and have a go. We had such fun together – both in rowing and as ‘block 10’ and then ‘Whitworth 6’ girls! Such fabulous memories!

We were so saddened to hear about Carole’s passing. She had the most infectious smile and laugh with eyes that shone brightly. She shall be sorely missed by all, who were lucky enough to have known her. We send our love, thoughts and prayers to Charlotte , Alex and family.
