Donkey Rescue - Jean had a number of donkeys during her life and had many stories to tell of their antics! Donkey Rescue is a charity some of the family support and in this time of pandemic we know they are struggling and in need of donations so it seemed fitting to list them here. Imogen, Jean's Great Granddaughter, particularly loves to visit the donkeys so it will be a legacy of Jean's for us to tell her as she grows up.

Jersey Rescue Dogs - Jean has supported this charity a number of times herself and 3 of the family dogs have been adopted from the rescue. Jean had also met several of the dogs as they prepared to go to Jersey to their new homes who she always enjoyed spending time with. Her love of animals very much included dogs and it is hard to keep up with how many she actually had! This charity also has other focuses such as educating children on how to behave around dogs and helping those who become unable to care for their animals in the short term by offering emergency temporary care for their animals, this covers any situation from people who are unwell to those fleeing domestic violence.

Bowel Cancer UK - As with so many families, cancer has affected Jean's. Bowel Cancer is on the rise and hitting more people than ever before and Bowel Cancer UK is a fantastic organisation supporting those with the disease and their loved ones. They also have a large focus on education both to the public but importantly to healthcare professionals to try to enable it to be spotted earlier.

It will be our memories which keep you, who we love close to us. Your life was an example to us, to guide us through our lives. The darkest moments which we will face are not to be buried and forgotten, rather they are a memory to be called upon for inspiration to remind us of the unrelenting human spirit of our capacity to overcome the intolerable. Where your marker will lay is only the marker of your name, your mortal remains may be gone to dust, but the marker of your life is all around us, in the things you achieved and the lives of those you touched in life. Messages I receive from your friends are about laughter, your humour, your generosity and your kindness. I hope we can continue your legacy in our lives. – Your Daughter and your Rock.

In memory of our dear dear friend Jane. We shared so many happy times ,friendship is so valuable it has to be treasured and never taken for granted, Jane and Michael were always so hospitable which is a wonderful gift to a friend, to share your time and home.
Jane had a wicked sense of humour and loved to tease, I was often at the receiving end of this, it always ended in laughter.
Jane was kind and was known for her generosity.
We had a lot of bridge I played weekly with her for over thirty five years and always looked forward to our sessions. I was so sad when the time came for to move away.
We loved her company and best way to sum our friendship up is to say “we had fun” and we will miss her.

Auntie Jean/Jane always had a smile on her face, she was also known for her wicked sense of humor.
She told me that my father (her half brother) Denis taught her to box when they were younger so she could protect herself. I don’t think she had to put that particular skill into practice
Most of all I remember teas and games with my cousins in the field at her home in Oxted when we were young.
She had a long and happy life and will be missed by her friends and family

We shall miss you Auntie Jane.
This is an end of an era for us.
We were so blessed to have been able to share some great times together as a family at Christmas Cottage. Plenty of special memories and fun times.
Love to our cousins, Annette, Jacqui and Paul.
Rest in peace Auntie Jane. Love Emma and Richard. Xxxxx

I always enjoyed visits to Auntie Jean’s, with Grandad (Denis) and Nanny (Pat). Romping through the fields, over the stiles, and playing with the animals. She gave me adventure books to encourage my reading, much to my Grandad’s delight. I wore out the spines on those books, whiling away the summer days. Thank you for the memories and first joy of reading.

Jane and I (Kumari Lane) shared a love for Andre Rieu music. She will be happy that a piece by Andre Rieu is being played at the service. Farewell Jane. RIP.

I remember meeting Jane and family at Christmas Cottage, their Oxted home, with their garden gently sloping down to the River Eden. In mind, I still see Jane cheerful and hospitable on these occasions. Jane is now at peace.

I’ll always remember the warm, welcoming and friendly atmosphere at family lunches at Auntie Jane’s house in Oxted, backing on to the field, and how this feeling came with her whenever we met in the years since. Building a time capsule in the garden as a family around the turn of the millennium is another fond memory I hold of the times we all spent together too. Love to all of the family, and rest in peace Auntie Jane xx

    Mother,
Where to start is a big problem and then where to end is yet another. We traveled so many roads, some smooth others rough and unmade. But the memories will always fill the mind and heart.
As has been stated, you had a wicked sense of humor and those who fell prey to you will equally remember you probably with less affection, but non the less, remember you they certainly will.
But it wasn’t just your humor that we shall remember, but your love and kindness, especially that which you had for the many animals we had.
The stories I could tell would fill a book, and perhaps when, or if, I reach 91 I shall start to write it.
Love you always and Rest In Peace in the love and care of the Lord our God and his son Jesus Christ.
