I send my deepest sympathy to all Julian’s family at the news of his sudden, and untimely death. My connection with Julian was musical rather than personal. I was Secretary to the North Wiltshire Orchestra when he so kindly stepped in as Treasurer a decade ago. The orchestra owes him a great debt of gratitude for the way in which he navigated the tricky waters of keeping an amateur orchestra afloat. It is never easy, but Julian’s calm amidst any financial storm was so reassuring. His meticulous care of our accounts meant that there were never any nasty surprises at the annual audit. He was a most loyal servant of the orchestra and will be greatly missed. Christopher Joseph

So sorry to hear of Julian’s passing. Always the gentleman at the orchestras I played in with him, I will miss his quiet enthusiasm for his music making and his gentle smile across the orchestra.

I remember Julian from school , his love of the cello, and his collection of football programmes, may he rest in peace
