Donating in memory of my fab husband Mike who passed away far too soon. We’ve had many happy days navigating the rivers and canals in our narrowboat Tupelo, he’s now at the tiller up in heaven, where hopefully it isn’t raining!! Love and Miss you my darling, Lindsey xxxx

Mike will forever hold a special place in my heart. He was an extremely generous, funny, charismatic and wise man. I referred to him often as Uncle Mike or The Captain, as he would always help and guide me through life offering his advice to me. We would spend hours every day talking, sat on the hull of our boats talking about all his life experiences. He was a catalyst for supporting me being the person I am today. I met Mike in my early 20’s and he had more than a positive impact in such a pivotal time in my life, where I am forever grateful. I loved every moment I spent with him, as it was laughter most of the time. He is an incredible man and an inspiration to me. It was an absolute honour to call him a dear friend. I am lucky to have so many memories and to have spent so much time with Mike, I am grateful for that time. He will be missed tremendously by everyone.

I joined up with Mike as teenagers and we went through Training together at Brize Norton I think these early days were great times frequenting the Spotlight Club and Smoky Crew rooms seemed normal then. You deserved a longer retirement and I’m sad you are no longer able to navigate the waters anymore and hope you rest peacefully

I joined the Service at the same time as Mike back in the early seventies. It only seems five minutes ago that we shared such fond memories as young airmen at RAF Brize Norton. Mike was always a very kind individual with a good sense of humour. I was also very lucky to share a house with Mike and others in Wootton Bassett for a short while, serving on the Mobile Teams at RAF Lyneham. Some of the happiest times of our lives.
    Rest in peace Mike.

I first met Mike almost 40 years ago, when we were both still serving. I immediately took to him and we became good friends. His calm proficient demeanour was forever present in the professional arena and that always garnered respect from all he came into contact with, both in the RAF and everywhere he went thereafter. Outside of work in the social environment he was great fun to be around. He helped me personally on a number of occasions and will always hold a special place in my heart and memory. Ever considerate and compassionate, he will be greatly missed by all but of course mostly by Lyndsey & Becki to whom I offer my heartfelt condolences.

First knew Mike (Jock) at Brize 74/75. Spent Hogmanay in Edinburgh at his dad’s, we were both legless by New Street station. Then had great weekends at his mum and step dad’s in Wraysbury rubbing down the Hull of their cruiser Raasay. Fast forward to 95 when, after a word by Mike to the Chief Loadmaster, I joined Heavylift. We were among the first to crew the A300 and checked each other for the first few weeks. Mike was forever the professional at work and also at play. Both Lindsey and Mike looked after me at a low point in my life and I am forever grateful to be able to call both friends. RIP Jock, love you.

Sincere condolences to Lyndsey and family, RIP Mike, navigate the canals above and know that you will be sadly missed by so many friends and colleagues. I first met you in the late 80’s in West Swindon, we never actually worked together but we enjoyed a pint or two together. We took similar journeys after leaving the RAF, where you were known and respected by many, a great guy taken too early.
